Job Overview:
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for reviewing, maintaining, organizing, and verifying quality-related records and documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established company procedures and applicable requirements. This position primarily works in an office environment and supports Quality Assurance through recordkeeping, sample preparation, testing documentation, and coordination with other departments. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, accurate, and able to maintain the confidentiality of company information.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Quality Records and Documentation:
- Review production, quality, inspection, sanitation, food-safety, and other related records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established procedures.
- Maintain accurate and organized electronic and paper records.
- Maintain the confidentiality, accuracy, and integrity of company records and information.
- Coordinate annual record shredding and identify Quality Assurance records eligible for shredding.
- Complete assigned work accurately and within established deadlines.
Sample Processing and Quality Control:
- Process and package weekly samples and sample requests.
- Set up, grade, and clean up daily production samples.
- Conduct shelf-life studies.
- Pull samples from the warehouse as needed.
- Log product attributes and maintain related records.
- Deliver products and instruments to outside laboratories as needed.
Hold Area and Product Tracking:
- Maintain the Hold area, including documenting holds in and out, maintaining logs, and compiling appropriate records.
Water Sampling and Testing:
- Collect daily water samples from established plant sources.
- Log and report water test results.
- Maintain the titration log and related documentation.
Regulatory and Quality Documentation:
- Maintain and prepare documentation for USDA contracts and remain aware of contract status and requirements.
- Maintain current Kosher certificates.
- Maintain documentation for downtime and repairs, incoming ingredients, and Certificates of Analysis (COAs).
- Assist with auditing thermal processes.
- Maintain and edit formulas as needed.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Prepare reports for meetings and other quality-related purposes.
- Assist with training as needed.
- Work cooperatively with Quality Assurance, Production, Warehouse, Maintenance, Can Plant, and other personnel.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in quality control, quality assurance, food processing, manufacturing, records management, documentation, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience reviewing quality, production, food-safety, regulatory, or other controlled documentation preferred.
Computer and Technical Skills:
- Experience using GEM, SAP, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, or similar computer systems preferred.
- Ability to accurately enter information into computer systems and maintain electronic and paper records.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written procedures, instructions, and forms.
Attention to Detail and Accuracy:
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to review detailed records and identify missing, incomplete, or inconsistent information.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment when identifying documentation discrepancies or issues requiring follow-up.
- Ability to maintain the accuracy and integrity of company records and information.

- Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate, complete, and organized documentation.

Physical and Functional Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while performing computer work and reviewing records.
- Ability to use a computer, keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other standard office equipment.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand and finger movements associated with keyboarding, data entry, filing, and handling documents.
- Ability to read and review information on computer screens and printed documents.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and access office, production, warehouse, laboratory, and other facility areas as needed.
- Ability to collect daily water samples and lift and carry sample cans, boxed or loose samples, and other materials.
- Ability to lift, carry, or move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to navigate stairs, uneven surfaces, and other areas of the facility as required.
Additional Requirements:
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Ability to operate a forklift preferred.
- Must comply with applicable company policies and procedures, including safety, food safety, sanitation, quality, attendance, and confidentiality requirements.
