Cost Accounting Controller
Seneca Foods, one of North America’s leading providers of packaged fruits, vegetables, and seed production, is seeking an energetic Cost Accounting Controller that is ready to move their career forward to the next level by becoming part of the management team at our Nampa ID seed production facility.
As Cost Accounting Controller, responsibilities will include being actively engaged in the cost accounting for the Plant, Warehouse and Agricultural Operations. As a valued management team member, the candidates will report and forecast plant spending, production, costs and variances. Accurate cost, inventory control, attention to detail and solid time management skills are critical to this position.
Qualified candidates will have a minimum of a Two-Year Degree in Accounting. Previous experience in Cost Accounting preferred. Supervisory and Agriculture experience a plus! Candidates must demonstrate an ability to learn, grow and contribute to the overall success of the facility.
Key Position Responsibilities:
- Lead financial functions of the facility including budgeting, forecasting, costing, payroll, accounts payable and reporting.
- Ensure adherence to accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
- Effectively maintain accounting related internal controls in accordance with corporate policies, procedures, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
- Key driver of the monthly, quarterly and yearend financial closing processes.
- Reporting and reviewing all costs and variances with the Plant Manager and Regional Controller.
- Review of spending and proper general ledger coding.
- Analyze spending variances and report projections throughout the fiscal year.
- Supply & inventory material reconciliations including participation in physical inventory counts.
- Maintain fixed assets and capital project reporting and expense tracking.
- Actively provide guidance to employees on multiple company systems.
- Proactively participate with the local management team by providing financial guidance and assistance wherever needed.
- Effectively communicate business and plant requirements.
- Act as a liaison between the plant and Corporate Accounting functions.
- Supervise all office staff and activities.
- Other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
The preferred candidates experience will include:
- Minimum of Two-Year degree in Accounting
- 2-3 years of Cost or Manufacturing Accounting preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word etc.
- Supervisory experience
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
- Prioritize responsibilities while meeting required deadlines
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- ERP system experience such as SAP or similar software
