Seneca Foods Corporation of Montgomery, MN, a food production and distribution center located approximately 35 miles southwest of the Twin Cities metro, currently has an opening for a full-time Buyer. This position will mainly be responsible for selecting and ordering products and equipment, managing inventory, and maintaining relationships with suppliers/vendors.



Purchase of maintenance repair and overhaul, operating supplies, capital items, UPM items, etc.

Ensure that ordered items are received in proper quantities and quality.

Act as the main point of contact for supervisors and mechanics in planning repairs and ordering parts/equipment to establish the timing/schedule so supplies are on hand as needed and "just in time".

Maintain relationships and communication with vendors and other Seneca locations.

Complete research to maintain competitive quotes and purchase prices.

Monitor spending activity for monthly budget.

Ensure compliance with all regulations, policies and procedures for Seneca, safety, etc.

Actively participate in continuous improvement projects.

Other duties as assigned.



4-year degree in Business with previous purchasing experience preferred

Accuracy, attention to detail, organization, and record-keeping skills required

Willingness and ability to work and function in a team environment

Good communication skills

Established computer software and office equipment skills required (i.e., MS Excel, MS Word, SAP, scanner)

Valid driver's license
