Seneca Foods Corporation in Gillett, WI is seeking an Agriculture Field Supervisor.
This role is a strong fit for someone with a farm, agronomy, crop production, vegetable processing, custom harvesting, seed, fertilizer, crop protection, or ag field operations background who enjoys working directly with growers and being hands-on in the field.
Job duties include:

Develop and maintain strong working relationships with growers, landowners, vendors, equipment partners, and internal plant/agriculture teams.

Assist with grower contracting, crop planning, acreage planning, and raw product procurement.

Plan and coordinate planting and harvest schedules based on crop readiness, field conditions, plant needs, weather, labor, and equipment availability.

Scout fields for crop health, weed pressure, pest pressure, disease concerns, maturity, and harvest readiness.

Coordinate crop sampling, pretesting, field mapping, recordkeeping, and harvest documentation.

Supervise or support planting, spraying, and harvesting activity to ensure quality, safety, timing, and yield objectives are met.

Direct or coordinate spraying applications in accordance with company expectations, grower needs, crop conditions, and applicable safety requirements.

Work with seasonal crews, equipment operators, custom harvest crews, and internal teams to keep harvest activity moving safely and efficiently.

Monitor raw product quality from field through receiving/processing and communicate issues quickly.

Help ensure GMPs, safety policies, food safety expectations, PPE requirements, and company procedures are followed.

Maintain accurate records related to grower communication, acreage, crop conditions, chemical applications, crop sampling, harvest activity, and raw product movement.

Support cross-functional communication between agriculture, production, maintenance, quality, and plant leadership.

Perform other duties as assigned during planting, growing, harvest, and production seasons.
Requirments for the position include but are no limited to:

Farm, agronomy, crop production, ag operations, or vegetable processing background required.

Agronomy degree, agriculture degree, or equivalent hands-on experience strongly preferred.

Strong understanding of crop production, planting, harvesting, field scouting, weed/pest pressure, soil/field conditions, and grower communication.

Experience working with growers, farm operators, custom harvest crews, co-ops, crop consultants, seed/fertilizer suppliers, or ag retailers.

Strong planning, organization, communication, and follow-up skills.

Ability to maintain accurate records and use field maps, crop reports, spreadsheets, mobile apps, or ag technology tools.

Comfort working outdoors in varying weather, field, wet/humid, dusty, noisy, and seasonal conditions.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and use required PPE.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Valid driver’s license required.

Ability to work extended hours during planting and harvest seasons as business needs require.
