Seneca Foods Corporation is currently looking for an energetic and qualified Cost Accountant to help manage the accounting and financial functions at one of our food processing/manufacturing facilities located in Cambria, WI.


The ideal candidate will be comfortable generating frequent financial reports for plant management and Corporate Accounting. They should track financial information in a well-organized manner and assist the Controller in all aspects related to finance at the organization. This candidate should be comfortable analyzing balance sheets in order to forecast revenue and keep track of accounts payable and receivable. 


The Cost Accountant position at our Cambria East facility is being added to learn Seneca's accounting and financial functions for the purpose of future planning and attrition of our Controller workforce. 


Responsibilities (but not limited to):


• Responsible for the financial functions of the facility including budgeting, forecasting, costing, payroll, accounts payable and reporting.

• Manage accounting activities to ensure adherence to accounting principles, practices and procedures. 

• General Ledger Journal and Reconciliation Preparations

• Assist in AG & Grower Accounting

• Assist Plant Controller on Costing and Analysis Projects

• Raw Material Usage and Reconciliations

• Accurate reporting of the seasonal pack production and financial costs

• Monitor and analyze balance sheets, accounts payable and accounts receivable

• Responsible for analysis and interpretation of financial data.

• Responsible for maintaining an effective internal control environment in accordance with corporate policies, procedures and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements

• Crosscheck payroll prior to processing

• Learn and train facility employees on various company systems

• Provide financial guidance to the plant, warehouse and agriculture functions

• Effectively communicate business and plant requirements.

• Act as a liaison between the plant and Corporate Accounting functions.

• Support Controller in all financial matters of the organization

• Assist Corporate Accounting with projects




·       Bachelor's degree in Accounting or relevant field

·       2 - 3 years experience in Accounting

·       Strong technical, analytical, communication and presentation skills

·       Proficient in Microsoft Office suite; specifically proficiency with Excel
